This article contains a preliminary analysis of the results of the Andalusian regional elections held in December of 2018. These elections could be summarized into two headlines: first, an unexpected and historical alternation in the Government and, second, the irruption of a far-right political party in a Spanish parliament for the first time since 1979. This article descriptively explores three dimensions: the previous expectations to the electoral process, the aggregated results, and the political consequences on governance of the elections. It shows that the opinion polls drew tendencies of change in voting without important consequences on governance compared to previous elections, something that finally really took place. With low electoral participation, the changes in aggregated vote resulted in a completely unknown scenario in Andalusian politics, with an unprecedented parliamentarian fragmentation and a viable option of political alternation in a territory that had a political hegemony on the Socialist Party that lasted more than three decades. Finally, we analyse how the change in Government was possible through a coalition that implied three different political parties, including that emerging right-wing extremist actor. All of these associated factors indicate that Andalusian politics will be able to be taken as an advance of what may happen from now on in Spanish politics, as happened in previous occasions (1982 and 2015).
