Résumé

When teaching in the Business Administration and Management, and Finance and Accounting Degrees, one can think of applying in class concepts from the business world. This aim can be even reasonable, but it includes some threats too. In this paper we provide the reader with some reflections about the possibility of considering higher education as a firm itself, and we give some ideas to avoid the most risky situations. To do this, we start from our experience in the Faculty of Business at Pablo de Olavide University, in Seville. We also try to test our worse fears, by using a data set of marks from our own students, but we did not find enough evidences to support that our teaching practice is corrupted by the aforementioned business ideas.
