Sermons preached in 1668 on the occasion of the beatification of Rose of Lima contain a set of references that weave an "embematic biography" of which life, virtues and mystical experiences are part. This paper shows the value of symbolism as a transmitter of meanings whithin the encrypted codes of the Modern Age.
