Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyse the possibilities of applying representative actions for the protection of the collective interests of consumers regulated by the EU Directive 2020/1828 on environmental matters. To this end, its material scope is analysed and the paper concludes that the environmental protection granted by the Directive is both anec-dotal and indirect as it is conditioned by the existence of a consumer relationship. Never-theless, the main questions related to the regulation of representative actions are studied, taking into account the way they could be applied to collective actions in environmental matters.
