Abstract
The general aim is the study and analysis of the current contribution and potential of the cooperative Dominican societies as agents of territorial development (local, urban and rural), bearing in mind the environment in which they are settled down, where the public institutions have a limited role and with seriouspolitical, economic and social problems and therefore where the civil society meets itself the need to be apromoter of actions of development. The cooperative societies favor the participation, attitude that is removable to any area of the citizenship. The cooperative societies, in diverse forms, help promoting the mostcomplete participation of the whole Dominican population in the economic and social development.
