Abstract
This article intend to expose experience of community-action intervention carried out from more than ten years in the University Residence of Flora Tristán.A project that, added to its aspect as residential resource accessible for the university community, has as objective to support the community development in an area characterised by a social stigma, through what we have been called as “light presence”and as well as acquisition of knowledge and learning for people who live in, trough development of values as solidarity, interculturality, commitment, and personal and social autonomy. In particular, in one hand, we make a brief review over roots and practices of community intervention in Chicago up by the end of XIX century and early XX and, in other hand, we highlight on special aspects of the University Residence of Flora Tristán related to its characteristic, first, as milestone in the process of social community intervention and, second, as the university social commitment.
