Resumen

Research on nutrition and supplementation in sports plays an important role in the physiological improvements in antioxidants following the ingestion of certain foods, synthetic products, natural products and various diets. The present study evaluates the physiological effect and oxidative stress in athletes after the intake of the microalga Tetraselmis chuii, recently considered "novel food" in humans. Following the bibliographic review about the current scientific situation related to oxidative stress in sport, microalgae and the microalgae Tetraselmis chuii, the following objectives are proposed: To evaluate the effects of taking the microalga Tetraselmis chuii for one month, on the Usual haematological parameters of athletes; To evaluate the modifications that can produce the take in different biochemical parameters and to evaluate the effect of the taking on ergospirometric parameters and on the possible state of oxidative stress of the athletes. The present study is based on an experimental study in which the players took the substance of study for a month, without changing any of the daily activities they performed or their nutritional habits. The following variables were analyzed before the beginning of the intake and the day after the last intake: anthropometric, ergospirometric, hematological and biochemical variables, including general parameters of oxidative stress and lipid profile. After the present study, we can conclude that taking one tablet a day of the Tetraselmis chuii microalgae (tetraSOD®) produces changes in body composition, performance parameters, lipid profile and parameters associated with oxidative stress. Which could be considered an ergogenic supplement for the athlete.
