Assessment of the level of muscular strength and volume in physically active English adults

Resumen
El objetivo de este estudio es describir el volumen muscular y la fuerza de los diferentes segmentos del cuerpo de una muestra de 19 participantes masculinos inglés, con una edad media de 43,84 (± 11,62). Un dinamómetro isométrico (Standard Tipo S) se ha utilizado para las mediciones de la resistencia, así como un dispositivo isocinético (Cibex Norma, Ronkonkama, Nueva York, EE.UU.) y un escáner de resonancia magnética (Esaote G-Scan biomédica, Milán, Italia) para medir el volumen muscular. El cuestionario Baecke (1982) ayudó a determinar el nivel de los participantes habituales de actividad física. Los resultados revelan una relación inversa entre la edad y la fuerza isométrica del músculo bíceps (r = - 0,518, p <0,05). Además, existe una correlación entre la empuñadura de la mano derecha y la mano izquierda (r = 0,788, p <0,001); par de apriete de los músculos extensores de la rodilla y los músculos extensores del tobillo (r = 0,712, p <. 01); momento de torsión del flexor de la rodilla y los músculos extensores (r = 0,773, p <0,001) de volumen de los músculos bíceps y tríceps (r = 0,849, p <0,001), así como varias correlaciones entre el diferentes volúmenes de los músculos cuádriceps. Como conclusión, la edad tiene una influencia negativa sobre la producción de la fuerza isométrica del músculo bíceps, pero no de los músculos extensores de la rodilla. Como era de esperar, los grupos de músculos antagonistas de accionamiento alrededor de la rodilla, es decir, el extensor y grupos flexores parecen estar adaptados el uno al otro en términos de volumen, la fuerza y la tasa de desarrollo de la fuerza.
