Résumé

Since the 1980s, the analysis of the consequences of migratory processes on gender relations and roles, as well as on family care, has become increasingly important. The migration process has a strong impact on gender roles, especially in the role played by migrant women, who are the protagonists of their migration project, in achieving economic independence and providing resources for their families. In this article, we analyze the effects of female migration on the transformations of gender roles, both at origin and destination. Finally, the main challenges of research and intervention in this area and their implications are pointed out
