Abstract

This article analyzes the connection between resources consumption, economic growth, the increase of inequalities and environmental conflicts in Spain and Europe. The main argument of this article links the inequalities reduction process in Europe in the second half of the XX century with the increase of resources consumption and its related environmental impacts. The economic crisis in 2008 has deeply altered the resources consumption pattern in many European countries, however it failed in being more sustainable. This text reflects on the ecological movement necessity of incorporating both the social and the environmental dimension in order to suggest a new political movement able to permeate through society.
