Abstract

Gender perspective has been systematically included in policies and community actions in the EU. Therefore, it´s very important to detect differences and to study in depth these terms in order to make good policies. Many times only traditional factors are appointed in economic analysis, even though there are many other factors which can be certainly outstanding. In this context, researches on the use of time and its consequences in men and women labour course and therefore, in their income levels, are nationally and internationally considered as very important. In this document, we try to point out differences between men and women on their use of time, specially on paid and not paid-work, in order to detect possible contributions of time, a non-traditional variable in economy. This variable would help us to analyze structural differences in gender within the Spanish labour market and the income distribution. Only if we make a good diagnosis we could improve egalitarian economic policies. This is the reason why, by using Time Use Survey 2002-03 from the National Statistic Institute (and Andalusian Statistic Institute) and Labourer Population Survey, we try to show the impact of time on Andalusian population, in their income level, taking into account especially, the differences between men and women.
