Abstract

The study of concepts such as health, well-being, social support and quality of life has been recently study in many areas of knowledge. In this research we intend to know the perception of these constructs and the physical, mental, emotional and social impact of the care of dependent persons by women adult and older. This study aims to add details that enrich the scientific literature and showing us the reality of women caregivers. The aim of this research is to know the perception of health, well-being, social support and quality of life in adult women and older who are family caregivers. Also to know if the intervention carried out with these women produces changes in their perceptions of health, well-being, and quality of life. The sample of the study consists of 13 women from Seville (Spain) with an age between 45 and 70 years. We also have analyzed the socio-demographic variables: level of education, type of coexistence and age. The results indicate that health and quality of life gets worse at the end of the intervention because of the wear causing them the care tasks, which are tasks that occupy a large number of hours a day and often face without the help of another person. On the other hand, well-being had increases during the intervention period because they perceive that the social and family obligation that moves them in their role as caregivers has satisfactorily despite the cost that this involves. Also, the resources or social support increase throughout the intervention being in the majority of cases by phone, through social networks, etc. Data shows the reality of women caregivers and their perception about the acting care as well as the effects of these tasks on these people which is directly related to the mandate of gender which socially obliges women this role only for the fact of being women.
