Abstract
The superiority of the male over the female as well as family models formed solely by a man and a woman as opposed to an educational perspective on issues of equality and diversity have been latent features of our society since time immemorial. Nonetheless, it is curious to observe this discourse embodied in literary works aimed at young and adolescent readers. Starting from the standpoint that children’s and young adult literature contributes fundamentally to the formation of a child and that they come into contact with the experiences of the adult world, it is pertinent to analyse the manipulation during the translation process, demanded by different institutions and power groups, with perspectives of perpetuating the sexist and heteronormative discourse in the translation of works whose original characters and plots are far removed from this ideology.
