Abstract
This paper presents a reflection on the sustainability and the concept of Eco-citizenship from a gender perspective. Parallel to the theoretical reflection an analysis of the action and the history of a movement for social participation in the recovery of the Guadaíra River will be carried out, provideng an example of management and construction of citizenship in search of sustainable development in its immediate context. From the experinece of local citizen action for the recovery of a polluted river transcends a series of participative, awareness and educational strategies that can be considered global
