Resum

The revision of the myth, by means of feminist literary criticism, highlights the invisibility of the female individuality in the symbolic imaginary of androcentric societies. The process of deconstruction and reinterpretation of the myth – conceived as an ideological discourse within a social-historical context –, as well as the analysis of cultural archetypes, play a key role in the construction of new feminine identity models. This paper aims to study the theoretical proposals established by feminist literary criticism, in order to highlight its current importance in the research field of humanities
