Arqueología de la Arquitectura en el Convento de Concepción de Carmona (Sevilla)

Zusammenfassung

The following article summarises the results obtained during the Archaeological Intervention taken place within the Convent of Concepcion in Carmona. Carried out as a Historic Building Analysis, it has allowed us to analyse its morphology, construction process and evolution along its nearly 500 years spand. The origin of the complex is the convent chapel of Santa María la Real, built in the thirteenth century, around which developed the suburb of San Pedro in the second half of the fifteenth century. On the other hand, ground excavations in the convent have identified a sequence that began in early imperial times with the documentation of water supply facilities and the use of the area as a funeral place during late roman period, remaining so until the end of the Islamic period of the city.
