Abstract

The belief in the existence of a Judgement wich sentence will lead the person after death to Heaven or Hell (or to the intermediate Stage of the Purgatory), is still being present in the spanish society of the XVIIIth century, so much as a way of social control, as a source of the imaginative representations. These last duality explain many characteristics of the existencial paterns of the enlightened and preromantic character, present equaly in the everiday life, the pinture, the literature and the social criticism
