Abstract

The objective of the paper is twofold. First, to carry out an exploratory analysis in order to establish if the firms that belong to two innovative industries In Spain develop compensation and evaluation practices based on the long term performance of individual and groups. Second, to analyse the incidence of these practices in the innovation performance of the firm. From the analysis carried out in a sample of 97 Spanish firms we conclude: first, there are two profiles of innovative firms; second, only the compensation based on the performance of the group affect directly and positively on the innovative performance of the firms.
