Resumen

This paper is written to clarify the processes involved in the commercialization of the Internet and the alternatives. It is divided into two main sections. In the first section, I deal with a critical analysis of the political economy of communication, using some conceptual tools designed by Vincent Mosco. I connect Mosco's work with the main neocontractualism theories of justice. This will provide a big and critical picture of the information and communication sector in the world today. The second section continues this analysis, but focuses in on the Internet itself, to show how it is becoming increasingly took over by the agendas of the corporate world. I present some theoretical and practical examples of an emancipatory use of the net.
