Abstract
The Alliance of civilizations is an initiative proposed by the President of the Government of Spain at the 59th General Assembly of the United Nations in 2005. It was co-sponsored by the Turkish Prime Minister. The initiative seeks to motivate international action against terrorism through the forging of international and intercultural dialogue. The theory of Alliance of civilizations is a big effort to improve the relations among countries and cultures. It represents a step forward respect to Huntington's theory. But the Alliance of civilizations could make similar mistakes that Huntington's theory. I attempt to seek a dynamic interpretation of AC based on a complex and dynamic idea of identity, a universalization of democratic behaviour and intercultural respect within the framework of human rights.
