Résumé

The skills training promoted by the implementation of the European Higher Education Area requires novel teaching models that permit to combine the knowledge, abilities, attitudes and values needed to fulfill a profession in a competent manner. This concept of professional competence cannot be achieved without previous education that trains the use ofInformation and Communications Technology (ICT), a critical attitude and teamwork activities. Moreover, proficiencies in meaning and analysis of scientific literature in other languages, mainly English, are essential to continuously stay up-to-date with the scientific knowledge. With this premise, a pilot experience was developed to improve the communication capacities of university students using the English language in a scientific context. The teaching model combined team-learning tasks, monitoring and tutoring of the learning curve through the use of I.C.T. tools, as well as evaluation methodologies to encourage the critical sense of the students. The efficiency of this teaching model was judged based on a student questionnaire on the suitability, dynamics, evaluation method and tutoring. This proposal of a change in learning methodology allowed reaching the scheduled teaching objectives and was well received by the students: they showed enthusiasm and valued positively this type of activities.
