Abstract
Images can be found everywhere influencing social action more than ever. People increasingly live and relate to each other through images, so that we can nowadays talk of such a thing as homo videns in XXI century. Sociology has traditionally neglected the study of the visual. Nevertheless last years have witnessed a major effort to this respect, also in Spain. This work deals with the study of image, especially photographs, and its pertinence to sociological analysis. This text also works on the contributions and themes studied by Visual Sociology as well as different proposals to this respect.
