In this paper we analyze the profiles of care-givers –comparing Andalusia with the rest of Spain-, focusing on those who provide informal care to disabled people. Among other issues we assess how care-giving for disabled people constraint labor market opportunities of women. To this aim both descriptive and econometric analysis have been undertaken, based on data provided by recent statistics; thus we were able to characterize the effect on employment decisions of the intensity of informal care provided -mostly by women-. Additionally we analyzed some side effects unique to women caregivers, and differences in patterns about men. The results confirm that not only disabled people have to face greater difficulties in the labor market, but the strong feminization of care for people with disabilities significantly affect the employability of women care-givers, constraining advancement opportunities of a large group of society and therefore the whole of it. Furthermore, the effects are not restricted to the labor market but are also accompanied by a general deterioration of living conditions, which entails direct and indirect costs.
