Abstract

Moving from "complex thinking" to "complex research" is possible if we follow strategies, methodologies, and tools that allow us to approach empirical reality without denying the basic principles of a complex approach to the world. Without ruling out other options that could guarantee this complex approach to reality, this article is a reflection on the potential of ethnography in this regard. Ethnography, a naturalistic way of approaching others, a craft-research in context, it is not a new research strategy, quite the contrary, it is rather a relic, a methodological exoticism increasingly fashionable. The ethnographic perspective is revealed especially useful if we seek to understand social and cultural phenomena considering what underlies and transcends them. In short, I want to show in this article how much ethnography can be seen, in essence, as a research strategy match up with a radically complex sensibility.
