Abstract

In this work, the segmented Darcy method and a flux model (TOPODRIVE) have been applied to estimate the groundwater contribution to an endorheic pond located near the Atlantic coast of the Iberian Peninsula, Santa Olalla pond (Doñana N.P.). This has been possible thanks to the daily data extracted from four piezometers located in the north, south, east and west of the pond. The results indicate a discharge to the pond of 1.32 hm 3 during a period of seven months (summer and autumn, 2016). On the other hand, the analysis of the variations of groundwater level recorded in the deepest piezometer (c. 20 m depth) indicates a semidiurnal oscillation of several cm, which implies a tidal influence in the coastal aquifer. In the shallower piezometers (c. 3 m deep) a daily oscillation has been recorded, indicating that processes taking place in the unsaturated zone influence the water level.
