Résumé
El uso de suplementos en deportistas es muy frecuente, desde amateurs a profesionales. La prevalencia varía mucho según el sistema utilizado en la recogida de datos, con un rango estimado entre el 40-100%, lo que indica el uso generalizado de los suplementos por parte de los deportistas. Un uso adecuado y responsable de la suplementación por parte de los deportistas y de aquellos que los recomiendan es fundamental. El conocimiento de estos es fundamental debido a la importancia que adquiere el uso de los mismo en el rendimiento y la salud de los deportistas. Este conocimiento debe ir más allá de la efcacia de estos, poniendo especial énfasis en la seguridad y la legalidad de los mismos, ya que de estos tres aspectos (efcacia, seguridad y legalidad) derivan la mayoría de los problemas existentes en relación a los suplementos en el deporte. El objetivo de esta revisión es realizar una síntesis de la literatura reciente sobre sobre estos aspectos.
