Abstract
The antithesis between Marx and Weber is crucial to analyze the interactions of social phenomena. In The Fear to Freedom, since an intermediate position, combined with psychoanalytic theses, Fromm studied the rise of religious Protestantism influencing the emergence of capitalism, but also in a generalized feeling of submission that, in contemporary times, paved the way for authoritarianism, and particularly for nazism.
