¿Hacia dónde va el rol del docente en el siglo XXI? Estudio comparativo de casos reales basados en las teorías constructivista y conectivista

Abstract

Western societies of the XXI century are immersed today in the so-called "digital age", covering with its influence the various processes that make it up, in particular education is inconceivable without the information and communications technologies (ICTs) which have gradually been integrated into the daily use by all of society. In a permanently networked world, teaching and learning experiences evolve and develop continuously undergoing changes, in which educational professionals are witnessing of the change in instructional design models, methodologies, and the roles of teachers and students. Recently the emergence of a new educational paradigm, called connectivism, proposes an evolution of the previous theories of learning adapted to the Internet and online social networks. In this paper two real-life examples of higher education under the system of e-learning, one based on constructivist theory and the other based on connectivist theory, are compared. We focus on the role of the teacher in both cases, trying to surmise how its profile evolves, which changes from being a designer of flexible learner-centered methodology to being a creator of learning environments. Should the teacher of the XXI century be an expert in virtual leadership?
