Resumen

Bien es sabido que una nutrición adecuada puede acelerar la recuperación, mejorar las adaptaciones al entrenamiento y el rendimiento. En los raids de aventura esto se hace más importante por el estrés que supone para el organismo pruebas de larga duración y con combinaciones tan variadas y, por la realización de éstas en entornos extremos que puede agravar el estrés fisiológico del deportista. Los requisitos fisiológicos y metabólicos de los diferentes deportes de aventura varían mucho; por lo tanto, proporcionar recomendaciones nutricionales específicas resulta muy problemático. Afortunadamente, la investigación científica en esta área está creciendo, y ahora tenemos una gama de estrategias nutricionales que pueden ayudar al deportista a competir en este tipo de pruebas. El objetivo de esta revisión es proporcionar pautas nutricionales genéricas y recomendaciones específicas para los participantes en raids de aventura.
