Abstract

According to the Anuario de Estadísticas Deportivas 2018 (Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte, 2018), in Spain it has gone from 37% of people who practiced sport in 2010, to 46,2% who did it in 2015. This data indicate a positive longitudinal evolution in the practice of physical activity. However, it is unknown how the evolution of consumers in specific sectors of sport such as the fitness sector. For this reason, the present work aims to examine the evolution of consumer characteristics of low-cost fitness centers in Spain during the period 2014-2018 based on gender.
