Resumo

This thesis aims at identifying and describing the types of synchrony used in the dubbing of the original version (English) and the translated one (Spanish-Spain) of three action-adventure video games. The methodology, empirical and exploratory, belongs to Descriptive Translation Studies, specifically within the area of Audiovisual Translation and video game localization. Although they share significant semiotic features with movies, video games have the unique characteristic of generating interaction. This study determines the types of synchrony used in the analyzed corpus and its comparison with the traditional taxonomy of dubbing synchronies in movies. The types of synchrony are also contrasted in the original and translated versions of the three video games analyzed. This analysis is based on the distinction of four game situations, each with particular interactive features, in which the different types of synchrony can be identified.
