Abstract

It is generally assumed that higher physical activity (PA) leads to higher physical fitness (PF), a powerful health marker during youth. However, the effect of free-living PA intensities on the components of PF in adolescents remains controversial, since both null and positive associations have been reported depending on the specific PF capacity and PA intensity analysed (De Baere, Philippaerts, De Martelaer, & Lefevre, 2016; Kidokoro et al., 2016). Thus, the aim of the present study was to determine whether the level of each PA intensity at baseline was associated with PF capacities at 2-year follow-up in adolescents.
