Abstract
Depression could be defined as the low mood, pessimism, and apathy experienced over an extended length of time (Beck, Ward, Mendelson, Mock, & Erbaugh, 1961). Prior evidence has suggested that regular practice of physical activity (PA) might reduce depression in children and adolescents (Lubans et al., 2016). However, the role of diet in this association is poorly understood (Godos, Castellano, Ray, Grosso, & Galvano, 2018). The aim of the current study was to analyse the association of physical activity (PA) and risk of depression in physically active adolescents taking into account adherence to the Mediterranean diet.
