Abstract

The main purpose of this thesis is to provide a set of teaching guidelines on different resources used to develop ethical and civic education by making use of informational and communication technology in secondary schools. Many of them fall into three applications presented in recent years in the Ministry of Education´s competition for curricular and educational materials in electronic format: Los caminos de la felicidad (Second Place National Award y Premio Especial por fomentar la competencia lectora 2006), Axial. Un mundo de valores (First Place National Award 2007) y El viaje a Grecia (First Place Nacional Award 2009). In order to satisfy this general objective, it has been necessary to carry out the following tasks: a) show the investigative-action program initiated by the author in 1995 as a qualitative methodology favoring an on-going project of reflection and the implementation of novel didactic initiatives, including the development of diverse material that can produce a considerable improvement in the teaching of Ethics/Civic Education; b) define what is a medium or a resource for informational and communication technology and other terminology; c) present the main informational and communication technology that can currently be used in Ethics/Civic Education at the secondary level, properly described and evaluated after having been tested in the classroom; e) explain the main aspects of the pedagogical proposals for Ethics/Civic Education that have been implemented most frequently during the last three decades.
