Resumen

In this work, a hydrogeological study of a set of coastal ponds, which are located in the Doñana Biological Reserve, has been carried out. These ponds are situated on quasi-stabilized dune depressions at different altitudes. Except for Santa Olalla pond, located at the lowest altitude, the ponds are temporary or seasonal. The water level evolution has been recorded with sensors installed in each of the ponds. With these data, inputs, outputs and water level storages have been quantified with a daily time-step during the period March 2016- September 2018. Moreover, surface water and groundwater samples have been taken during the same period in order to de-termine its hydrochemical facies. The water Balances revealed that most of the ponds were flow-through type. However, groundwater discharge is more important in some ponds than in others. Some ponds are rainfall-dependent and a major fraction of water outputs is groundwater recharge to the aquifer.
