Abstract
A number of well-known women who were part of the literary scene of London in the 1920s have been excluded from most canonical studies on Modernism, resulting this in a gender bias. Based on an analysis of the gender relations at that time, this research aims at rethinking Anglo-American modernism from a feminist perspective, by considering the influence of sex on writing and on interpreting the era. In addition, the methodology has a gender focus as it establishes a research relationship in those women’s own life context, giving epistemological value to the set of elements which built their everyday world. The aim is to rescue some of those women writers who have now been largely forgotten, to make their daily experiences visible and to paramount their relevance in the case of film criticism.
