Abstract

The aspiration included in the Global Strategy (EUGS) to achieve strategic autonomy for the EU has boosted the initiatives that have been adopted in recent years within the framework of the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP). However, this concept has not been precisely defined and is interpreted ambiguously, if not contradictory. In this way, strategic autonomy has become a fashionable term that helps to avoid the debate on the strategic definition of the Union. Debate that the EU needs to undertake urgently.
