Résumé

The standardization of the toponymy consists of the “establishment, by an appropriate authority, of a specific set of standards or norms, for example, for the uniform rendering of toponyms” and “rendering an item such as a toponym in accordance with such norms” according to the Manual for the national standardization of geographical names (2007: 9). Thus, a standardized name will be “a name sanctioned by a names authority as the preferred name from among a number of allonyms [variant names] for a given feature. However, a single feature may have more than one standardized name” (2007: 9). Therefore, using this approach as starting point, this study will offer certain standardization proposals of toponyms of the autonomous community of Andalusia. Accordingly, many forms of the Inventario de toponimia andaluza. Huelva (1990) will be analysed and they will be compared to other similar forms and to the written and oral forms documented in order to offer coherent and useful forms for the cartography, the cadastres, etc., because they are the most suitable ones, taking into account not only the origin of the term but also the current linguistic reality of the speakers of the territory that use the name
