Resumen

At the time of proposing the study of a language such as Spanish, one of the usual appeals is that initiating in the language will be advantageous and will provide the student with new job options. Therefore, including it as an additional language is a very interesting solution to enrich a curriculum and thus have more chances of a professional improvement. However, there is a portion of the Arab society that chooses to study Spanish as a possibility of personal enrichment. The student is attracted by the language moved by a series of positive feelings that reinforce this preference. In this work, through testimonies collected from a field study prepared for the doctoral thesis Teaching Spanish in specific purposes: the ethno-linguistic Arabic context (Santos de la Rosa 2017), the various stimulations that affect the choice of the Spanish language. Although a fundamental labor motivation is always suspected, in reality more than a third of the students treated have a motivation that is not strictly pragmatic.
