Resum
In Spain, as well as in neighboring countries, professional audio description (AD) is guided by a series of guidelines that usually coincide in advising neutral and objective descriptions that merely reflect what is seen on screen. In film AD, the opinions expressed by users on this matter have led us to set out the hypothesis that if we want AD to actually work and cause a deep impact on the recipient, we need to go beyond formal structuralist descriptions and use aesthetic criteria that create vivid sensations and feelings in blind people. This paper presents the results of a reception study conducted on a sample of visually impaired subjects which aims at assessing the transmission of aesthetic and emotional aspects in the AD of the movie Brokeback Mountain (Ang Lee, 2005). The study compared the reception of the existing AD version of the film with a proposal that highlights the aesthetic and emotional elements being analyzed.
