Resumo

Through this thesis I want to put in value the element "Public Square" as the Patrimonial element more identity of a town, of a city. To make this doctoral thesis I have supported the analysis and study of forty seats belonging to forty of the seventy nine municipalities of the province of Huelva. The selected peoples suppose an ideal support far this study because they are in a shott in their evolution, in which this element still reflects its essence, it has ali the sense of functioning of its being. Goals: -To know the genesis of the city as the container structure of the square element. -To highlight the importance and necessity of the public square for the quality of the city (physical reality and sociological reality). -To Selecta sufficiently representative sample that defines the casuistry of ali the squares of the province. -To carry out a study of the genesis and process of the different precincts of the squares based on their evolutionary leve1, basic or more developed according to their complexity. -To highlight the diversity of public spaces generated by the location of the design in the different territories of the province with its various enclaves. -To Awareness to the population and institutions of the need to preserve these spaces, without altering their purpose, and promoting the seated activity of human relations. --To Reclaim the protection of this space. Phases of the investigation - First Phase: Analysis of primary sources, based primarily on the Francisco Coello historical cartography query, with documentation on the responses to the Marques de la Ensenada and the database of the current State Cadastre (electronic headquarters) Andalucía. As secondary sources I have made an exhaustive bibliographical consultation to select the documents cited throughout the text. - Second Phase: Fieldwork: It consisted of a series of visits to the different municipalities, to collect data for further analysis. -taking pictures: - To Take the main measures and defining the space. -To Take formal data for the registration template. -Other data to take into account (images, milestones, etc.). In the second phase of the fieldwork, I conducted a series of interviews (semi-open) to users to obtain information on aspects of use: -Social uses: walks, celebrations, relationships, experiences, etc. -Identification of the user. -Perception of space. -Office official: Markets, Altars, Processions, parties (religious or pagan) and popular dances. -Check the existence of secondary places or public enclosures (parks, walks, etc.). - Third phase: Interpretation of the results throughout the research process fer the preparation of the thesis and obtaining conclusions. Conclusions: -The settlement of human groups in sorne buildings and en a territory, is a linear process. In ene of the initial moments of the process agree to build spaces and buildings fer their common activities and then public, at that moment, the city appears. Among these common and public elements, the Plaza is prevalent. -The vital process of the city is that of its growth and, in the end, its death as such city. The square loses its individual identity and becomes an element of the urban fabric. -The majority of the squares studied are far from the final stage of the evolutionary process and are closer to their origins. -The squares studied, in recent years, are undergoing notable remodeling, and are being positively affected, both in the pedestrianization of ene or another adjacent street and in the integration of sorne streets in their space. -In sorne places such as the cases of Zufre, Linares de la Sierra and others, the conflict of road traffic that manifests itself in its conversion into large parking lots at the expense of the use of the community persists - Chronologically the space of the Plaza has endured various uses, even sorne of them have disappeared (bullring, market, fairground). -The changing society and its ways of life generate new uses of services and socialization that entail the adaptation of these public spaces to new needs. -Taking in account ali the squares analyzed we can make a classification according to their typology of use: Religious and Institutional, Religious Strict, Local Institutional, Strict Civic; also according to its surface, according to the shape of the enclosure and according to the topomorphology it is articulated as an adaptation of the shape of the space to the ground.
