Herramienta para medir el cambio en el medio físico aplicado a la Ensenada de Marbella

Urban development policies implemented in the coastal areas of the Iberian peninsula from the middle of the last century, had a great impact not only on the economy of the affected areas, but also in the physiognomy and characteristics of the physical environment both terrestrial and marine. The Ensenada de Marbella has evolved to become one of the major tourist attractions worldwide. An evolution that has been causing major changes in the physical environment.However, institutions involved in the decision-making processes for the coastal zone, such as UNEP, highlight the complexity of measuring this change (quantitatively and qualitatively), raising questions as: how much change has happened?, What land uses are most affected and how?, what is the relationship between the changes suffered in the emerged areas (land) and the submerged areas (marine) ?.In an attempt to answer these questions, and following the guidelines of the ICZM Protocol for the Mediterranean United Nations, in this article the results of the implementation of the LEAC (Land and Ecosystem Accounting) to The Ensenada de Marbella are presented as key to a better management of the coastal zone.
