Resum

In this text we will focus on mural paintings executed in Lima between the 16th-17th centuries, as works which are little known and have been practically overshadowed by the decorative programs that developed in the Andean region during the Baroque period (highly popular compared to Mannerist style that prevailed in the Viceregal capital). In this study, we will conduct an analysis of examples of murals preserved in the convent of Saint Francis of Lima (and their relationship to other murals of the time), with an emphasis on the pictorial series located in the main cloister and the fragments that still exist in other parts of the building. In this sense, we will attempt to shed light on the possible artists and chronology of the paintings, as well as their sources of inspiration, artistic techniques, state of conservation, etc.
