Abstract

A special issue on multisited and transnational ethnographies is presented here to deepen the practices, difficulties and new proposals for its viability. The number has got seven articles that address the need, viability and relevance of multisited ethnography to account for the reality of different groups and study subjects that are key of the anthropological reflection in the contemporary world. The practice of multisited ethnography is thus understood as a part of the transformative dynamics that anthropology experiences and has experienced throughout its history. Also, this practice is useful to respond to the changes and transformations of both, cultural groups and past and present contexts. The final aim of this compilation is to show the liveliness and plurality of contemporary research carried out from anthropology around the dense concept of “multisited” in relation to ethnography and within the complex framework of globalization.
