Resumen

Flow is a subjective, positive, and pleasant state that, due to its characteristics (e.g., balance between challenge and own skills, clear objectives, maximum level of concentration, high sense of control, etc.), is associated with a high performance. Knowing if soccer players experienced flow and its characteristics have been the main objectives of the study. The relationship between different sport situations (training, ordinary matches and the best competition) and flow situations has been investigated. 146 players completed the Brief Flow Scale for their evaluation. The results indicate that there were interindividual differences among the players experiencing flow (different dimensions and depth), feeling more flow in the best match, in league matches and when the results ended in a victory or in a tie. Thus, this state is frequently experienced in the best matches. Knowing the conditions that lead to flow would help us in designing interventions to increase this sensation or which training conditions could be modified to achieve it, improving its performance and results.
