Resumen
The purpose of this study was to compare the acceleration method with speed threshold to use one of them for quantifiying the number of sprints made by women rugby players. Data from 16 players were recorded from three tournaments, with a total of 80 files. Global Positioning System (GPS) were used, with a sampling frequency of 15 Hz. No differences were observed for number of sprints made (2.86 vs 2.40; Effect Size = 0.19 ± 0.39). Running demands were also compared with a decrease in the performance between 1st and 2nd halves (distance covered at high-intensity running 41.33 m. vs 44.5 m; Effect size -0.52 ± 0.39). We can conclude that it is indifferent to use both methods for quantifiying the number of sprints made
