Tostudy the phototoxicityof natural xanthotoxin we used an extrac of Ruta montana which contained 4% xanthotoxin. Working with 12 guinea pigs divided into three groups we compared the phototoxic effects produced according to the route of absorption. The results obtained show that extract of Ruta montana was more phototoxic on oral administrationthan when appliedto the skin.
