Abstract
Organochlorine pesticides accumulate in many ecosystems due to its high affinity for lipidic tissues. In the present paper we show their high persistence in birds of prey tissues. Tissues from individuals of three species of birds of prey were analyzed in order to assess what the cause of their death was. Analytical procedure followed showed cyanide in their stomach content, it was considered as the cause of the death. Also several organochlorine pesticides were detected in the analyzed tissues (digestive tract, heart, liver), it can be used as an ecosystem contamination indicator.
