Resum
This paper focuses on spelling difficulties of students of the Faculty of Education Sciences. This project was undertaken in the Bachelor of Pedagogy, in last grade. Spelling approach that has grounds only for teaching spelling rules is ineffective to tackle university students´ spelling and punctuation mistakes. The most suitable is, without doubt, the integration of spelling in the written expression competence. This strategy has allowed the student to understand and deepen adequately in writting process. Cacographic inventories have proved to be an excellent instrument for the teaching of spelling in the university. The experience shows the educational potential of this innovation, showing a high satisfaction by students in the development of spelling competence.
