Resumen

1. Introducción o motivación de la tesis El turismo es una de las actividades económicas que ha sufrido una mayor expansión en las últimas décadas, en España ha sido la principal motor de la reactivación económica generando empleo y compensando la balanza de pagos desde la crisis del 2008. Algunos autores han calificado a la actividad turística “uno de los fenómenos económicos y sociales más destacables del siglo XX” (Sousa, 2002, p. 28) (Nieto et al, 2016). Pero el turismo como fenómeno de masas surge en España a partir de la segunda mitad del XX, siendo el turismo de sol y playa el predominante tanto por los turistas extranjeros como por los residentes. A partir de los años 90 empiezan a surgir nuevas tipologías de turismo tendentes a satisfacer las necesidades de ocio que demandan los turistas, entre los nuevos subsegmentos de turismo se encuentra el Turismo Oscuro, el cual se puede englobar dentro del segmento de Turismo Cultural. Aunque es una realidad social desde fechas anteriores, no es hasta 1996 con los autores John Lennon y Malcolm Foley cuando se pone de manifiesto y se denomina de esta manera. Esta tipología de turismo es conocida como Dark tourism (Lennon & Foley, 2000). Para estos investigadores el "Dark Tourism" es: El desplazamiento que realizan los visitantes a lugares en los que se han producido muertes o desastres. No lo miran desde un ámbito para conmemorar a familiares y amigos sino como ocio o recreo, realizando un cambio fundamental en la concepción de como la muerte, el desastre y otras atrocidades están manejadas como productos turísticos asociados. En la ciudad de Córdoba y provincia, así como en la ciudad de Pátzcuaro no existen definidos los distintos lugares o enclaves que pueden ser objeto de esta tipología de turismo, con esta investigación se pretende tener un conocimiento más exhaustivo y preciso de toda la oferta en cuanto a Turismo Oscuro en estas zonas y establecer una comparativa. Así, también, se pretende conocer y analizar el perfil del turista de que realiza Turismo Oscuro en estos enclaves turísticos. La consecuencia al objetivo específico de este trabajo es, principalmente, la determinación del perfil del turista así como la catalogación y clasificación de los diferentes enclaves a fin de incluirlos en cuanto a materia de turismo oscuro, siendo esta la aportación principal del estudio presente documento. 2.Contenido de la investigación Este trabajo se estructura en ocho capítulos, además de este capítulo introductorio. A continuación, se expone brevemente el contenido de cada uno de ellos. En el capítulo primero, tras analizar el sector turístico en España y México, se analizan los beneficios y el desarrollo de una nueva tipología de turismo existente en estos lugares, el Turismo Oscuro. Unido a ello, se estudian las motivaciones que impulsan a los turistas a realizar este tipo de turismo y así poder dar respuesta a la siguiente pregunta: ¿Turismo de atracción o de tradición? En el segundo capítulo, se analizan los diferentes enclaves turísticos, así como las ofertas propuestas por cada uno de ellos en el desarrollo de dicha categoría de turismo. En el tercer capítulo, se realiza una revisión de la literatura referente al turismo oscuro. En consonancia con los objetivos, la revisión se divide en tres bloques diferentes. En un primer bloque, los estudios que analiza la importancia del Turismo Oscuro de manera general, y del Turismo de Cementerios y de Misterio o Fantasmas, de manera particular. En un segundo bloque, basándonos en la cronología de Wright (2014) analizaremos dentro del turismo oscuro el de cementerios y el de fantasmas, por ser los que se corresponden con esta investigación obviando el turismo de holocausto, el turismo de esclavitud, el de prisiones, el de terrorismo, etc.., En un tercer bloque, los estudios que analizan cuál ha sido el incremento del número de turistas en los diferentes destinos de turismo oscuro. En el capítulo cuarto, se realizan varios estudios de caso sobre el Turismo de Cementerios como como un nuevo producto turístico atractivo para el visitante, en España y México, a nivel general, y específicamente, en Córdoba y Pátzcuaro, respectivamente. De forma que podamos obtener el perfil de turista que realiza este tipo de turismo en los diferentes destinos de Turismo Oscuro existentes. En el capítulo quinto, se realiza un estudio de caso sobre el Turismo de Misterio como un atractivo turístico para el visitante, en España y México, a nivel general, y específicamente, en Córdoba y Pátzcuaro, respectivamente. De forma que podamos analizar las motivaciones que impulsan al turista oscuro a visitar estos lugares. En el capítulo sexto, se presenta la metodología utilizada para la realización del trabajo. La metodología se puede dividir en dos partes; en la primera, se analizan cada uno de los enclaves turísticos visitados, esto es, cementerios y lugares en los que han ocurrido sucesos paranormales. En segundo lugar, se presenta la realización de un análisis estadístico descriptivo para conocer el perfil general de los turistas que visitan estos destinos oscuros. En cada parte se presentan tanto las fuentes de información empleadas como las técnicas que se aplican para el análisis de los datos. En el capítulo séptimo, se muestran los resultados obtenidos de un análisis donde se compara, por un lado, el perfil del turista que realiza rutas de turismo oscuro, incluyendo éstas enclaves turísticos tales como lugares en los que han ocurrido sucesos paranormales y cementerios y, por otro lado, se analiza el perfil del turista que visita lugares funerarios en el Día de Muertos, determinando así similitudes y diferencias entre los distintos perfiles de turista de Córdoba (España) y Pátzcuaro (México), para concluir con una análisis DAFO, que muestre las Debilidades-Amenazas-Fortalezas y Oportunidades que esta tipología de turismo puede tener sobre la comunidad local y sobre el turismo en general. Finalmente, y tras la exposición detallada de los resultados alcanzados en este trabajo, se presentan las principales conclusiones, junto con las recomendaciones y las futuras líneas de investigación en este campo de Turismo Oscuro. 3.Conclusión De las conclusiones específicas de los lugares analizados, Córdoba y Pátzcuaro, se puede deducir que el turismo oscuro y especialmente el de cementerios no está suficientemente explotado. Hace falta un buen plan estratégico para que este segmento turístico se desarrolle de manera sostenible y se convierta en un turismo desestacionalizador de la demanda de turismo cultural de ambas ciudades. Aunque las motivaciones para realizarlo en Pátzcuaro y Córdoba son diferentes, el perfil del turista es similar, destacando el alto grado de satisfacción con la visita realizada. Una buena profesionalización del sector podría convertir los cementerios de Córdoba y Pátzcuaro referentes y que sean visitados por miles de turistas extranjeros incrementando esta cuota de mercado que es casi nula en Córdoba (no llegando al 1%) y del 6% en Pátzcuaro, como ocurre en otros cementerios como el judío de Praga o el de Arlington en EE.UU. Por tanto, harían falta más estudios que analicen la oferta y demanda, pues una de las principales dificultades encontradas, es la falta de información de este tipo de turismo a nivel mensual durante varios años, especialmente en Pátzcuaro, y no sólo a nivel puntual como la Festividad del Día de Muertos. Este trabajo de Investigación, es el punto de partida de una carrera investigadora, donde el turismo de cementerios es un campo muy grande todavía por conocer y analizar en profundidad.   4.
